Address or Building:

This town of 800 residents is located on the Mississagi River 70 miles east of Sault Ste. Marie, 24 km east of Thessalon. The community was named in 1886, two years after a steel bridge over the Mississagi River replaced a wooden one. In 1949, a newer concrete bridge replaced with old steel one.

The river offers the town's famous sturgeon fishing and walleye fishing, in the fall salmon is popular. You'll find hiking (Voyageur Trail), canoeing, boating, wildlife viewing, bird watching, wild fruit harvesting and hunting of deer, bear, moose and small game. When winter arrives so do 12 kilometers of beautifully groomed nordic ski trails and over 150 kilometers of exciting snowmobile trails which are linked to other Provincial, National and International trails. Don't forgot to bring some apples or carrots, because the snow also attracts white-tailed deer from miles around. Remember your camera! There are a number of accommodations, from motel rooms to tenting. Many fine eateries are also located in the Village. Within the town or nearby you can find two nine hole golf courses, a driving range, a water slide, miniature golf, horseback riding, many public beaches and parks as well as two outdoor pools
