  • This town of 2500 is about 2/3 of the way from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay, and is known as "the Gem of the North Shore" of Lake Superior. Just west of town is "Hydro Hill" which offers one of the best views of Lake Superior with the Slate islands just offshore.

Terrace Bay was built to service the Kimberly Clark Pulp Mill in 1947, which remains the town's main employer. The engineers designing the town to take advantage of the glacial terraces that Terrace Bay sits on. Terrace Bay has excellent recreational facilities including a 9-hole golf course and a community ski hill.

The Trans-Canada Highawy is dramatic along the North Shore Official web site.
