Dogs are not permitted on national park beaches between April 1 and October 15, annually, for reasons of conservation and public health and safety. They are permitted on the walking trails and in other areas of the park, but must be on a leash the length of which may not exceed three metres, or in a kennel capable of holding the animal.

An alcohol ban is in effect during all weekends and in all campgrounds in the park from the date of opening up to and including the July 1st weekend. The period to which this prohibition applies is from 11:01 a.m. on Friday until 11:00 a.m. on the following Monday.

The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Act prohibits the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places. The only place where you are allowed to possess and consume alcohol in the park is on your own campsite and then only if you are holding a valid camping permit.

The endangered species, the piping plover, which nests on cobble beaches is afforded the highest possible degree of protection. Fines are very severe for disturbing or molesting them, or for allowing your dog run free in closed areas. If you choose to ignore the "Closed Area" signs, the most stringent sections of the National Parks Act will apply in the prosecution of this violation.
