Here are some pictures of the Sault Ste Marie canal and locks, on both the Canadian and US side. The Canadian locks are the oldest, originaly built by the British in the mid 1800s. The American Locals were built in the 1950s as part of the St Lawrence Seaway construction to enable larger ships to reach Lake Superior.
