Trans-Canada Highway: Regina, Saskatchewan's Top Tours
Here are the most popular "tour" attractions in the Regina area. Some of
these are self-guided, some have guides, and some are even free. (See attractions maps for the downtown and NE | NW | SE | SW ):
Legislative Building Wascana Centre This building was built form 1908 to 1912, reflecting the architecture of both the English Renaissance and Louise XVI of France. Tours are conducted year-round every half hour. Open Victoria to Labour Day from 8 am to 9 pm. In winter from 8 am to 5 pm. When the legislature is in session, tours are also available 6 pm to 9 pm. Free admission.
City Hall 2476 Victoria Ave 306-777-7003 See Regina’s City Hall, the focal point of the "Queen City." Tours take you throuh the council chamber, foyer and forum. Open Monday to Friday 1 am to 4:30 (please book tours in advance).
City of Regina Greenhouse 4th Ave and John St 306-777-7372 This greenhouse features seasonal floral displays (especially Christmas, Easter and Fall). Also hosts the Chrysanthemum Shows. Gift Shop is open to all. Open Sept 1 to may 31, from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. Closed June to August, and Christmas Day. Free Admission.
Leader Post 1964 Park St 306-656-8330 Take a tour of the printing of a daily newspaper. Regina’s largest paper is part of the Southam newspaper chain. Tours are ofered for groups of at least 12, with advance booking. Open 9 am to 3 pm. Free admission.
Regina Cemetary Walking Tours Old Regina Broad St Cemetary, 4th Ave & Scarth St gate 306-789-4882 Take a year-round self-guided cemetery tour in the provinces oldest and most interesting cemetery. Two tours offer either prominent city fathers or immigrants and the city’s multicultural heritage.
Regina Firefighters Museum/ Fire Hall 1205 Ross Ave, Headquarters Building 306-777-7837 This modern fire station contain both fire fighting equipment and the Regina Firefighters Museum. Tours are offered by appointment (age restriction may apply), and school age children must have 1 adult for each 5 -kids. Call 306-777-7714. Open Monday to Friday 8 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4;45 pm. Free admission.
Wascana Waterfowl Park Lakeshore Dr, east of Centre of the Arts (Wascana Centre) 306-522-3661 Several waterfowl ponds adjoining Wascana Lake support a native bird population that includes ducks, geese, pelicans, swans.Open May 1 - November 1 from 9 am to 9 pm. Guided tours can be arranged weekdays 9 am to 4 pm during the summer. Free admission.
Heritage Regina Tours City Hall - Urban Planning with Heritage Regina 306-585-4214 Heritage Regina offers a variety of bus or walking tours from July 1 to September 6. You can also take a self-guided tour (call 789-4882).
Tree Tour along Devonian Pathway 307-777-7372 for handbook Take this self-guided tour of trees and schurbs suitable for a harsh prairie climate. Over 70 species are marked with plaques indicating requirments, lighting levels, and wildlife suitability.
Wascana Nature Walks North Shore ofWascana Lake (Assiniboine Ave & MacDonald St) 306-522-3661 You can book nature ID kits with binoculars, field guides and brochures (24 hours in advance) and observe the wildlife and waterfowl in their habitat at Wascana Centre. Free admission.
