Canada Road Trips, Tours, and Detours

Canada Road Trips and Shorter Vacations

Our site has lots of end-to-end Canada road trips along the Trans-Canada Highway. THIS PAGE has a number of great ideas for shorter (about or under a week) Canada road trips and tours in various parts of Canada. These are region-focused roadtrips that can be a vacation in themselves, or a great detour on a much longer coast-to-coast roadtrip of a lifetime! Canada is a great country to take a vacation in and there is so much variety in geography, culture,  and people!

We have organized these shorter Canadian road trips to start at a major airport (where you can get a car or RV rental if you desire), visit several cities and the countyside in between,  and return to the same airport.

These are perfect ONE WEEK Road Trips

The timings provided are for a one-week vacation, but you are welcome to take longer. But trying to compress these “tours and detours” into short timeframe is NOT ADVISED. The size of Canada should not be under estimated. A good rule of thumb is you can drive about 100 km each hour, and these tours give you PLENTY of time to stop, take pictures, visit attractions, stop for various diversions (swimming, hiking, etc).

While our summers are gorgeaous, our spring and fall seasons are less busy but still offer lots to see and do, and our winters are longer and colder but all parts of Canada still offer lots of winter and indoor activities.

What to See & Do on Your Road Trip

To help you in planning your trip or help you understand what you are seeing, we have Travel Tips   for things like Craft Breweries & Wineries, Farmers Markets as well as the nature and scenery along the way:

One Week Road Trips and Tours

Here are several popular ONE WEEK road trips and tours both off and around the Trans Canada Highway. These popular tours start & stop at the same airport so those renting cars do not have to pay a one-way drop-off charge.

The first few are in the western provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba), the next few are in the central provinces (Ontario and Quebec), and the last are in the Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Newfoundland)
