Shuswap – Okanagan Region

Things YOU GOTTA SEE when visiting Okanagan and Shuswap!

Here are some quick suggestions for visitors with limited time in the area. Perfect if you have only ONE DAY to visit (like a business trip, when passing through, or when stopping over between flights). The additional days schedule is a recommendation for those who want to see the essence of the Shuswaps & Okanagan in only a couple of days.

Okanagan-Shuswap Overview

This map covers commmunities along the Trans-Canada #1 (along the Thompson River and the southern shore of Shuswap Lake) and also towns in the Okanagan accessible via the Crowsnest Highway #3 closer to the Canada-USA border, and then north along beautiful Okanagan Lake and Route 97.

For those doing a round trip, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND going one way along the #1 down the Fraser Canyon, and the return route via Highway #3 and #97 through the fruit and wine country of the Okanagan.

Only those in a hurry, or who have already done the Fraser Canyon and the Okanagan, should zip along the much faster #5 Coquihalla Route between Hope, BC and Kamloops BC (the speed limit for most of the route –in summer– is 120 km/h) which enables traffic between Calgary and Vancouver in a 12 hours driving day (traffic & weather permitting)
