Located north of Dryden and Sioux Loookout, and in 1977, the communities of Muskrat Dam, Bearskin Lak, Sachigo Lak, and (North Caribou Lake developed a winter road to link all four communities.
These communities are located north of Dryden and Sioux Loookout. In 1977, four Chiefs from distinct, independent communities met to discuss a collaborative venture. Arthur Beardy (Muskrat Dam), Tom Kamenawatamin (Bearskin Lake), Marty McKay (Sachigo Lake), and Saul Keeash (North Caribou Lake), decided that it was in their best mutual interests to develop a winter road to link all four communities. The development of a winter road had additional benefits in that it provided many jobs, which helped supplement seasonal earnings.
