Brewing since 1834, the Sleeman family started the Silver Creek Brewery, now known a Sleeman’s. Brewery tours are available Monday through Wednesday evenings between 7 and 9pm. Named for Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, the British commander who defeated Napoleon’s French army at Waterloo in 1815, and fifteen years later, as Prime Minister, passed the “Beerhouses Act,” making it easier to find a decent pint.
