This town was founded in 1793 by millwright John Merrick. Merrickville is on the Rideau Canal and is about 75 km southwest of Ottawa. The mills’ ruins grace the centre of this very pretty village, which now houses antique stores, craft and specialty stores, restaurants and a country inn.
