Trans-Canada Highway Closure Now In Effect, with redirection/detour
Full access between Lake Louise and Field via #1.
From Dec 1 to Dec 23
From December 1 to December 23, expect daytime stoppages of up to 1/2 hour between 9 am and 3 pm and between 8 pm and 10 pm daily, with overnight full closures from 10 pm to 7 am
From Dec 23- Jan 4
From December 23 @3pm to January 4th @noon there shall be NO REROUTING via Radium.
We will post further updates tot he schedule over the Winter months, when they become available

During closures, detour south through Radium on Hwy 95/93, which can add up to 90 minutes travel time.

ALSO: The Highway 93 through Yoho National Park has very limited cellphone coverage. Parks Canada has provided satellite phones that connect directly to Banff Dispatch for 24/7 emergency service. These call boxes are at key spots in the highway:
- Marble Canyon Day Use Area
- Simpson River Trailhead
- Kootenay Crossing operations centre
- Kootenay River Day Use Area

This detour is in effect during SPRING & FALL SHOULDER SEASONS for 2021 and 2022. It is not in effect during summer tourist seasons and during winter ski seasons.

Kicking Horse Phase 4 Construction Details
While The Highway is closed (April -May 2021, October-November 2021 and again in 2022) significant blasting and building is being done on a 4 kilometre stretch to both 4-lane and straighten this dangerous section of the Trans-Canada, which has until now had a 40 km speed limit on its 2 lanes of traffic
